Book Coach Julie Artz

Has Busy-Ness or Fear Left You Feeling Stuck With Your Writing?

“I can’t do this.
I don’t know how…”

Have you been working on the story of your heart for months or years and know it needs something, but you’re not sure what?

Maybe you even know what needs to happen, but aren’t sure how to do it.

Do you have a busy day job that keeps you from achieving your writing goals?

Or maybe you’ve got a tight editorial deadline that you’re not sure you can reach.

Are you confident you’ve done all you can with this revision, but you’re still not getting the response you’d hoped for from agents or editors?

I can help identify big-picture craft, structure, and story issues and teach you how to address them in your work.

I can help you take the needs of the market / readers into consideration while holding true to your voice and your vision for the story.

I’ve been through just about every up and down possible when it comes to writing, revising, pitching, and even pivoting. And I can help you with strategy, self-care, project management, and accountability every step of the way.

Sometimes even the most experienced writers need help with their story.

You deserve a literary fairy godmother
to help you make it to the ball!

Let me help you identify the next step in your journey…

When it comes to crafting story, sometimes
two heads really are better than one!

Another client busy working on her story in preparation for our next call.

“I’ve tried everything I can think of, and something is still not right with my story.”

My client Sonia Hunt, author of Nut Job (Gen X Media, 2021)

“In searching for a book coach, I needed to find someone who “got me” and understood what I wanted to put out into the world. Then together, I felt that we could shape the story into something magical. And we did…Thank goodness you were interested in my story and took the time to be interested in me and what my vision was. We had great chemistry from the get-go and created a process that was comfortable for me. You helped me to shape all of the ‘stuff in my head’ into a beautiful story that was true to me and also stayed focused on the reader’s perspective.”

Don’t let anything hold you back from your writing dreams…

Sending your work into the world with
confidence doesn’t have to be an
impossible dream…

Writing a book is hard.
But you don’t have to do it alone.

Another happy client who just got notes from her book coach!

After more than two decades of writing and editing corporate, technical, and non-profit materials, eight years ago, I began working with authors as an editor and writing coach. Whether traditionally published with one of the big 5 publishers, hybrid-published, or indie-published, my authors write fiction and nonfiction for adults and children. My affiliations with SCBWI, AWP, and EFA, my work with Pitch Wars/Teen Pit, and my Author Accelerator book coaching certifications all keep my publishing industry knowledge current and sharp.

“I absolutely loved working with Julie! She is a fantastic editor with a great eye. Her feedback is organized, thorough, and thoughtful. She has so much expertise to share on everything from story structure to character arcs to common line-level mistakes! Julie isn’t afraid to suggest changes that will take your manuscript to the next level! She will push you to grow as a writer, but she will also be there to encourage and support you every step of the way! I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with her on my manuscript.”

My Values Translate into All That I Do

So it’s important that the clients I work with are vales-aligned.

I believe climate change is real and that no human is illegal. That love is love, that women’s rights are human rights, and that Black Lives Matter. And that children deserve diverse books. As a result, I devote my attention and my intention as an author, editor, and book coach to creating, promoting, and publishing books that reflect these values. Because stories change lives.

What’s holding you back?

You’ve heard all the ways I can help you get
unstuck, hone your craft, and send your
work out into the world with confidence.
But you still haven’t signed up…
I’d love to know why.

Let’s see if I can get you back on track with a 30-minute coaching call that identifies your next step.
